Black Women of Essence South Florida Chapter
Black Women of Essence, Inc. (BWOE) is a Non-Profit 501 (c)(3) organization. Our vision is to enhance the quality of life by providing resources, services, education, networking opportunities along with advocacy and promoting self awareness within our communities. We are commited to improving the quality of life in the following areas: Children's Advocacy (mentoring, literacy, and tutoring), HIV/AIDS awareness, Domestic Violence Prevention/Awareness and Breast Cancer Awareness.
BWOE was founded by Renee Ellis in the late spring/early fall of 1999. In the February 2002, we were incorporated in the State of Florida and in April of 2003, we received 501 (c)(3) tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service.
BWOE was built on a foundation of Sisterhood that allows us to strengthen, encourage, empower and embrace one another with genuine love. BWOE is comprised of over seventy five women who are from different demographics (professional, social, geographic, age, education, economic, religion and race) but we all share the same visions for empowering each other and improving our communities. We welcome all women regardless of racial background, spiritual beliefs or lifestyles as long as they understand and support our mission. We believe when women improve the quality of their lives, the communities to which they contribute also improve.
The South Florida Chapter was created because there is a need for support in the South Florida area. Our girls need us, our boys need us and our community is thirsty for the healing and uplifting of souls and hearts.
